Judgment and your Highest Potential

Have you ever had a moment where you’re doing an Instagram Live, you see that one person’s name show up, and your stomach flips or maybe your whole heart drops?

This can tell us a lot about judgment and feeling judged, and it’s something I’ve struggled with for my whole life.

When we’re faced with judgment or criticism, most of us are able to move past what I call “general judgment” which is judgment from the masses or a group of people, because we can remember that there’s plenty of other people out there who need what we want to share.

What trips most of us up is judgment from the people we love, trust and respect. It is usually the judgment from these people that will color how we see all judgment or will be the voice (maybe even the actual voice of the person we fear being judged by) that cycles through our mind over and over again. These moments determine so much of the way we take action or don’t, whether we’re staying true to our values or not.

Because of humans’ social nature and how it’s tied to survival, judgment can be translated by our primitive brain or the ego mind as banishment or abandonment. And abandonment gets translated as death. We’ve all seen the baby antelope that gets separated from the pack and taken down by lions. That’s what we’re trying to avoid in the old version of our brains.

I write about it here, because it colors many of the ways we hold back, or dim ourselves or change our truth.

And when we hold back, dim and abandon ourselves, we won’t go for the promotion, or transition to our dream career, or allow ourselves to become rich and balanced, because we fear the judgment (i.e. abandonment and death) of our clan.

Maybe it’s conscious, but it’s probably unconscious. Either way, in order to reach your fullest, highest potential, you have to confront these thought processes and systems that have been built in your mind, and decide if they serve your highest Self.

If you feel judgment from your closet people, send me a message on the “Contact” page to chat about how to make sure this doesn’t hold you back from advancement at work or anywhere else, so you can become the leader you’re meant to be.
