If You Feel Lost in your Career

For many years, I felt disconnected from how I spent the majority of my time at work. I didn’t like most of what I felt I had to do. I often couldn’t see the bigger picture. I wasn’t ever sure I even wanted my bosses’ jobs.

I knew I didn’t want to wake up and still be in the same boat 10 years in the future, but I had no idea which path to take.

All I knew is that I wanted to advance, get promoted and make more and more money, believing that those things would hold more happiness, or make all the work I hated feel more “worth it.”

The truth is that money can never make our finite amount of time on Earth feel more valuable. That comes only from the inside.

Deep down I knew this, and so it made my whole experience that much more angst-filled.

I am working and have worked on this FOR YEARS, and often felt like an outsider about it. Many people around me seemed to at least be connected to the direction they were headed. All I knew was what I didn’t want.

This can feel isolating. I’m here to tell you that you’re not alone, and it’s okay to not know. One thing to commit to, though, is patience, which has often felt like the arch nemesis of my life. Trust that your path is leading you somewhere beautiful. Trust that what feels hard now will help you and others infinitely in the future. Trust that everything you learn will have a valuable place along your journey.

Understanding and seeing this come to life in your own world takes time. Allow it to happen.

If you struggle with feeling disconnected from your work, send me a message on the “Contact” page to set up a free call and we’ll discover what’s blocking you, why and how you can trust in your path towards leadership.
