Learn How to Leave Work Early Using Yoga Philosophy

One of the biggest things that stresses me out is feeling like I have too much to do, and not enough time to do it. It’s the dilemma of any modern woman. How can I possibly add even one more thing to schedule or life?

In Yoga and a bit in Buddhism, we learn about the concept of emptiness, and that all circumstances are neutral. And, this does not exclude TIME. The way we know this is that time can feel slow, like when you’re getting blood drawn or doing a workout you hate. And time can feel fast, like when you’re on vacation or with your girlfriends.

This same idea applies to being busy. We think we are busy, but so does the college student without a job and what, like 16 hours of class?! And there’s always going to be the single mother with 7 children holding down 3 jobs to make ends meet.

Being busy has more so to do with our relationship to time than it does items on our to do list. If time is neutral and non-changing, how are we managing it?

And listen, I get it. About 2 years ago, I looked my father-in-law straight in the eye, and told him so seriously that there would be absolutely no way that I could ever add one more thing to my plate, especially not a child. Now, I’m running my own business and planning to get pregnant by the end of the year…Oy!

This is why the yogis talk so much about “being present.”

When we feel overwhelm with too much, we can ask ourselves “What is the most important thing I can do right now that will move me towards the outcome I want?” (HINT: it’s probably not scrolling on Instagram.)

Then…DELETE EVERYTHING ELSE FROM YOUR TO DO LIST AND GO HOME.
